 B-29 44-62276 Succoth Glen 17th january 1949
« Thread Started on May 6, 2008, 5:45pm »

For many years now, i have been very interested in a B-29 44-62276 which crashed on the 17th of January 1949 in Scotland.

I first visited the wreck in 1990 and have been many times since.
In that time, a number of parts of the wreckage have been taken away, 4 propellor blades being the most significant parts.

In 1993, a memorial with the names of the 20 men who died in the crash was placed at the crash site, so i think this will put people off removing any more parts of the wreckage, as it reminds people that it is a place where 20 men were killed and its not just some scrap metal on a mountain.
Some people still have enough lack of respect to scratch their name into some of the parts of the plane though. I wonder how people who do such things would feel if they found this kind of gaffiti on a dead relatives headstone.

Anyway, the purpose of this post is to find anyone who has any parts of the wreckage from this aircraft, who would like to have the part taken back to the crash site.
I would imagine that people have taken parts, only to find they have no use for it and just store it in their garden sheds or something.
Well if you have any parts of this plane, i am offering to collect the part or parts and take them back to the crash site.

All i need is a photo of the wreckage and an address to collect it from.

My email address to send photos to is: beckett dot keith@googlemail dot com
Please replace the dot with a . without any spaces.

I would like to take as many parts back to the crash site as possible, so as much wreckage as possible will be there for many years come.

Keith.
